Marriott

Welcome!! This food blog is started by me and my glutton of a girlfriend. We love to EAT and seek to source for all great food around Singapore.

Kick starting this adventure is a visit to Marriott Cafe at Marriott Hotel to celebrate our first year anniversary. Dinner buffet is priced at $55++ per pax, relatively expensive. However it was a fine experience for us. Dining is very comfortable with nice cushion seats and ample space allowed between diners. Service is also of top, if not the best quality. The staff are ever so attentive and friendly.

Variety of the food item is kinda limited but of the best quality.
Free flow of fruit juice (guava, mango, apple), soft drink and coffee & tea available. I would say that the fruit juice do have a very refreshing taste, especially apple juice!

DIY Garden Salad

I am normally not a veggie person but we decided to go ahead and make a garden salad from the salad bar. Laced with moderate amount of thousand island dressing, the veggie is really fresh and the addition of little bread crumbs make the entire thing much crunchier! A very healthy appetizer.

Fresh Oysters

Added with a dash of tabasco sauce and fresh lemon juice, the oysters taste amazingly fresh!
I couldn't help but take a second helping on the oysters. MUST TRY for all Oyster lovers! This is what great quality is about.

Roast Beef

This is one of the signature dish at Marriot Cafe and i definitely know why!
the beef is roasted to perfection, very very tender and juicy. The meat is real soft that it melts in my mouth. You can choose to actually eat it with cream sauce or brown sauce. I would highly recommend the cream sauce. I can't remember how many helpings i took for this dish.

Drunken Prawn in Herbal Soup

This is another dish which i highly recommend. The prawns are actually kept in a glass tank and cooked live in your face. Talking about freshness eh? For herbal soup lovers, this is a must try. The soup is sweet with a hint of herbs and alcohol. The prawns were of the highest quality and taste real good along with the soup.

Tandoori Chicken

Premium chicken fillet roasted in Indian style with a hint of Tandoori Masala (that's why we call it tandoori chicken). Slightly spicy and the chicken is a little too hard and cold for my liking. They could certainly improve on preserving the tenderness of the chicken.

Salmon Fillet in Cream Sauce

Again, they could really improve on preserving the temperature of this dish. Too cold for my liking. This dish is kinda bland but the salmon taste good with the rich, creamy sauce on top.

Salmon Sashimi

Having worked in a Japanese restaurant before, i can tell whether a sashimi is good just by looking at it. Marriott's salmon sashimi is definitely not up to my standard. The salmon is fresh enough, but the way they cut and display it, it is as though its just another normal piece of meat. The meat is not thick enough and roughly cut, hence unable to bring out the texture of the dish.

Chilli Crab

This is another awesome dish which i would recommend. The crab meat is really tasty added with a full burst of the taste of the chilli sauce. The sauce had a mild spicy taste but it is not too gooey and very satisfying. Crab-Lovers, look out!

Mango Pudding

Tastes ordinary. Not too sweet and cold enough for my liking. Decent stuff.

Chocolate Panna Cotta

This has to be my favourite dessert for the night. This Panna Cotta has very very rich texture and is very very creamy! Not too chocolately but sweet enough for my liking! Has a quite milky taste. Awesome!

Assorted Chocolate Cakes

Decent cakes made with dark chocolate of very good quality. Not the usual sweet milk chocolate cakes you find in normal bakeries. Tastes normal but can be better. Can't actually taste the layer of cream in between.

Home-made Ice Cream

Lastly, we had vanilla and caramel ice cream. Nothing much to comment on the vanilla ice cream, but the caramel ice cream is fantastic! I simply love the texture and the rich flavour of caramel in my mouth. This is what i call flavour burst. On the downside, just a tad too sweet. But who cares?

And that concludes our visit to Marriott Cafe.
Could barely walk after such a hearty meal.
